A new snowfall map from the National Weather Service shows much of the region is in the bull's-eye of a significant winter storm right after Christmas, with up to 6 inches possible in some areas. Snow is expected to begin falling across the region early Friday evening,
It’s not a white Christmas. But it will be a white weekend — at least around here. An area of low pressure is expected to approach the tri-state area Friday, bringing accumulating snow late Friday afternoon into Saturday morning,
The snow will gradually ends across the area Tuesday afternoon. It's not expected to bring us much snow. A trace to an inch will fall in New York City, up to two inches in areas north and west, with up to four inches possible further to the north and west.

Snow blankets Tri-State area, plow truck drivers clear roadways
The Tri-State area was blanketed with snow Tuesday. Some parts got just a coating while others, like in Orange County, were digging out.
After the snow ended Saturday night, the airport measured 4.9 inches, nearly doubling the total for the month, which now stands at 10.8 inches. Since December isn't normally a huge snow month, that puts us more than 9 inches above average for the month. Now for the season, we sit at 13.4 inches, which is 11 inches above average.
A clipper system brought decent snowfall to the north and west of New York City early Tuesday, dropping up to half a foot in some places.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - It has now been 21 years since a massive snowstorm hit the Tri-State. From December 22 through 23, more than 22-inches of snow fell across Evansville. Other parts of the Tri-State saw anywhere from 10 to 20 inches.
