Japan has cancelled a famous cherry blossom festival near Mount Fuji, citing concerns over excessive tourist numbers and bad behaviour.

A popular long-running international festival has been cancelled due to disruptive tourists and overcrowding.

Fujiyoshida mayor Shigeru Horiuchi said the 10-year-old event – which draws 200,000 visitors – had been cancelled because of a “crisis” for locals.
