On August 10, 2018, Richard “Beebo” Russell — later known online as Sky King — captured global attention when he stole a Horizon Air Q400 from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. A 29-year-old ground crew worker with no formal flight training, Russell took off solo and maintained a calm, often humorous conversation with air traffic controllers for over an hour! Mid-flight, he performed a barrel roll over Puget Sound, then deliberately crashed the plane on Ketron Island. No one else was harmed.
