MBARI has recorded the spectacular giant jellyfish, Stygiomedusa gigantea, eight times with MBARI ROVs, most recently in November 2013, at 1679 m right here in Monterey Canyon near Shepard Meander. We have also sighted specimens during expeditions to the Channel Islands and the Gulf of California.
