'Ol' Red' by Blake Shelton

Here’s my dad Hoyt Axton playing a cover of “Ol’ Red.” The song tells the story of a prisoner serving 99 years on a prison farm in Georgia & how he escapes thanks to an ingenious plan involving the warden’s dog. This song was written by James Bohan, Don Goodman, & Mark Sherrill. It was first recorded by George Jones in 1990, then by Kenny Rogers in 1993. The most famous version of the song, though, is by Blake Shelton. He released it as one of the singles from his debut self-titled album in 2002
