Here we are working on an exercise pattern for children that show signs of retained primitive reflex called Asymmetric Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR). The purpose of this particular primitive reflex is to help with movement through the birth canal. It is also purposeful for a cross-pattern movement like crossing midline and bilateral integration activities. We typically see this until about six months of age, and then it should be integrated at that point. Some signs of retention would be decreased ha
